Gerak Makmur Village, located in Sampolawa District, South Buton Regency, South-East Sulawesi is a coastal village across Lande Bay. It has so much potential for tourism because of its natural beauty. However, it still lacks exposure, making the village a “hidden gem”. Furthermore, the village does not yet have an official website, making it harder to find information about that village.

This project is part of my work program in the University Volunteer Program for Rural Areas (KKN-PPM 2024). I discussed the concept, content, and design with village officials; led and collaborated with the team for the copywriting and articles, then presented the website to the village secretary, along with its source code, tutorials, and documentation.

The concept I used for this website is an aesthetic-parallax slideshow that focuses on showcasing the beauty of Gerak Makmur Village. It therefore filled with photographs me and my team collected. We also do some research and interviews with village elders about the history and local myth, as it is very rich in unrecorded culture. In the end, I developed an additional article and admin CMS, all built in native PHP, JS, and CSS. I also made my own parallax library, MiniParallax, for this website.
